Yoga and Avenger’s Thanos - a dream worth interpreting
I usually have strange and symbolic dreams, but especially now as I’ve been walking the ancient Camino De Santiago pilgrimage in Spain, with my wife and 22 month old baby. It seems that everything significant which goes on in the world, has a place in my dreams as I process it for myself.

I dreamt I was with my old friends, who own a yoga center and retreat space in South Africa. It’s a beautiful and gentle environment, set amongst a large and delicately well kept and calming garden, the size of a small holding. In some ways it represents the epitome of the nurturing feminine for me, and a space I would spend time to decompress life in.
Although well intentioned and perhaps naive, my friends (the couple in my dream) had run up significant debt, and the space simply wasn’t able to maintain itself financially. It seemed like the sacred to them wasn’t viable in reality. They had few offers for partnerships, until this very alluring and powerful individual appeared out of nowhere. This name was Thanos, this piercing presence, a huuuuge vision for a self sustaining spiritual community, enormous wealth, and similar values, seemingly made him a really interesting partner.
Thanos offered to purchase the land adjoining the yoga studio, as his intention was to build housing, grow food sustainably and create a community of like minded people. This opportunity would remove the debt for the couple, more than half the monthly costs of running the studio, and possibly add a whole bunch of new yoga members to the studio. A partnership made in ‘heaven’.
The transaction took place, and everything went smoothly, all for about a week. Suddenly commercial agriculture appeared on the land, trees were cut down to make way for high yielding crops and construction begun. I attended a yoga class, and I was no longer allowed to walk on the land, unless I paid, or I needed to work for free on the farm. The sacredness of the space, was now simply confined to the yoga studio, and every part of the gentleness of the space reduced to a single room, especially with the banging of the ever ongoing construction and agriculture machinery.
Wealthy new age spiritual folks bought up the ‘community’ properties like hot cakes and suddenly the clientele from the yoga studio fell away, and classes were half empty. The couple’s intentions for growing this sanctuary were dashed, and once again they became financially dependent, but this time on Thanos and his usurping vision for the world and ‘his’ ashram. My friends began living in perpetual fear, anxiety and helplessness as they unwillingly began to serve the needs of Thanos. I stepped away from the toxicity and moved to another studio down the road, but kept in contact with my friends, to see where I could be of help. Thanos’s reputation as a leader grew, as he became known as a guru, spiritual influencer, writing a best selling personal development book, and doing talks and retreats globally on how to heal the world.
