It’s impossible for YOU to change

If you are a personal development junkie like I was, who constantly reads every spiritual / motivational / conscious development book, podcast or quote, this post is for you.

The addiction of spiritual ‘seekers’ is prolific. Those seeking healing, enlightenment, or who can’t help themselves ‘process’ or self-reflect all day long. I was one of them, and trust me, after decades, I’m still the same person. Even after the countless healers, specialists, ceremonies etc etc.

Now this doesn’t mean that evolution or change doesn’t take place, it’s just that YOU are not doing it. Change is just happening, and the YOU which is so undefinable and nebulous to find is not changing. Nature, the universe, everything is just happening. Please don’t be arrogant enough to think YOU are any different.

Habits, behaviours, thinking all change. But the real YOU has never changed. It neither ever been born nor will ever die. One might even discover that your dirty humor, jealousy, anger, dislike for many things may be there for a lifetime. But YOU will never change.

So, perhaps give up the addiction, the feathers, the crystals, the need to heal. Perhaps, accept yourself. Perhaps, just be present. Perhaps, YOU were always whole. Perhaps, YOU are just experiencing suffering and pain to discover that the real you could never be harmed. And just maybe YOU might let go of trying to change, be different, or even enlightened. In fact, just perhaps, there is nowhere to go, but to this very moment right now.

I really love the mythology and imagery of Kālī, the hindu/Buddhist goddess, from my own understanding. This goddess of destruction and death has always played such an important role in my life. Inside our inner worlds, we are continually birthing and dying different forms of identification, thinking and consciousness throughout our life.

But to finally discover who YOU really are, what’s untrue (all the projections and falsities in the mind) need to be destroyed. To realize that you were always perfect and untouched, even if you experience suffering, extremely unsavory thoughts, and false ideas of who you think you are. Ultimately, these false projections destroy themselves, with the change of time. But you are not doing it. The image of Kālī cutting off her own head, is the ultimate destruction of the false identity. But a birth of who YOU / ALL OF really are. Nothing, eternal, never born and have never died. And always experiencing a change of form.

So, if YOU are experiencing shame, jealousy, anger, or the plethora of tough emotions, selfishness and generational wounds. There is nothing wrong or right with using a variety of modalities to address them. Just don’t expect/wish them to go away, possibly ever. One might experience them in different ways, or form a different relationship with them over time. But this ‘solar’ form of spirituality of seeking enlightenment, perfection, happiness or utopia is a false dream of the mind.

So, give up trying to change. Change is already happening. This doesn’t mean that one can’t have an interest in these subjects, just break the addiction. YOU are already perfect. So, grab some popcorn, and just fully be present in your body to experience the vastness of your mind and the mystery of life. This also means giving up the concept of self-love. The SELF is love already, it need NOT love itself.
